Lab Assignment 10/24 Job Interviews
The first website I found was www.jobinterviewquestions.org/ and this website provided it all from different types of interview questions and the answers to even salary negotiation. I liked this site because like I said, it provides lots of information one should know about going on a job interview.
The second website I found was career www.allbusiness.com/tips-preparing-job-interview/16669932-1.html this website was pretty much broke it down step by step giving ten tips on preparing for a job interview. It tells you things like you should prepare for the interview, be on time, have all necessary documentation and most importantly dress appropriately.
The third website I visited was www.best-interview-strategies.com/questions.html this site basically gave mock questions and after each question they told you how you should answer the question and what the employer might be looking for within a responce. It gave me an idea of how I should answer certain questions.
All three of these websites were pretty good and they all broke down the way you should answer an interview question. At least one or two of them told me why you should answer the question in a specific way as well. I learned how to answer certain questions I would usually get stuck on during an interview. The second website actually told me what I should do before every interview and I feel that the steps provided will actually help me succeed in whatever interview I may have in the future. I learned a lot about interview questions and the proper answers I should provide from viewing these three websites. Overall the advice provided was much needed and I would totally recomend these sites to anyone going on an interview.

Chaps. 4 & 5 in You Majored in What?
I enjoyed reading chapters 4 and 5 and they taught me a few things. I always thought that the things you learn in college was the things you would be directly applying to your career but chapter 4 told me that the things one learns in college are just things about your major that's suppose to introduce you to your career path and get you familiar with the material, "connect with the professors, learn valuable skills, and become exposed to new ideas and experiences you haven't even considered." So just because you went to college doesn't necessarily mean your ready to approach your career path but once you do you'll have to use that knowledge learned in college to get that very job you wish to acquire.
I got a lot from chapter five especially because for a while now I've been wondering exactly how many careers I wanted. Often times I think of having one career at a time then I think like hey, I can have more then one at a time. This chapter showed me that a person doesn't have to settle for just one career when theirs so many you have to choose from. Just because you majored in something doesn't mean that's what you have to settle with for a career because "your major is just one element of your future plans."

Lab Assignment 10/17 Resume Writing Research
It was kind of difficult to find credible website on how to write a resume because most of the websites want you to pay them for a resume or pay them to help you write a resume. I then put in other key words and stuff and I found some pretty useful and helpful sites. The first site I found was: www.bestsampleresume.com/info/how-to-write-resume.html this site tells you exactly what a resume is and why it needs to be well written. While reading this site I found out the formate you should use and the things you should incorporate into your resume such as education, education, affiliations and much more.
The second site I found was: www.dummies.com/how-to/.../five-tips-for-better-resume-writing.ht...
This site was resume writing for dummies so it gives step by step on what you should and shouldn't incorporate within your resume. This site said that you should avoid the first person pronoun, use bullet statements when appropriate, USE PROPER ENGLISH,and go from general to specific. I knew most of these things but this site was still hekpful because it showed me how things should be.
The third website I visited was: www.resume-resource.com/exleg9.html This site gave me an example of a resume for someone in the Criminal Justice field. This sample resume showed me the things I would need to incorporate in my resume if I'm doing a resume for a Criminal Justice job and what I should put in and leave out. Although it didn't directly tell me what I should put in the resume and what I should leave out I sort of just knew from reading the resume because once you see what they left out and what they put in you automatically get a sence of what you need and don't need. This site was helpfull because I want a job in the Criminal Justice field so it help me get a sence of what I need to do and what I would need to leave out of my resume.
I found these websites to be really helpfull because they gave me a general aspect of what I would need to incorporate into my resume and what I may need to leave out. I knew most of the information the website provided me with but certain things came new to me. Overall I'm happy I came across these sites because they provided me with a lot of good information. My reaction to these websites were pretty good because I was surprised and happy at the same time that I was able to find good information. A couple of the websites told me exactlt what I needed to write on my resume and one told me what I should leave out and the other showed me exactly what a resume should look like for a certain job.

My Self Assessment and V.I.P.S
My values consist of many different things, things such as integrity, self worth, dignity and many more. Integrity gives me the things such as moral and ethical principals that I use to mold me into the person I want to be and make me whole. Ethical and moral principals such as hardwork, respect and self fullfilment. Self worth provides me with all the aspects I need to be an important person to myself and the world around me because if I don't possess self worth I shall not possess a healthy and striving career. Dignity gives me worthiness and self respect to appreciate the person I am and the women I strive to be.
I don't have many intrest but I do enjoy reading, writing and just having fun because one thing I've learned in life thus far is that you have to live your life and enjoy it because life passes by pretty fast and it waits for no one so do all that you can and see whatever you can because you don't want to look back on your life and have any sort of regrets.
I have a very straight forward type of personality and according to one of the test I took in class my type is EntJ which is Extraverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging. Extravert means that I'm outgoing and concerned primarily with the physical and social enviornment and I recieved an 11. Intuitive means that I'm a person that percieves by intuition like I can see the truth and on this part I recieved a 50. Thinking means that I'm rational and I use reasoning and I recieved a 38 on this part. Judging means that I form opinions, assess and cast judgement and I recieved a 78 on this part of the test. I agreed with my results of this test and it just reassured me of my personality.
I possess many different skills such as patience, willingness and the ability to be open minded to many different things and people that I am faced with. Ptience will give me the ability to wait and except my blessings as they come. Willingness will give me the ability to continue on with me life through all the difficult aspects I will face in life because life comes with good times and bad but willingness will give me the ability to get through those bad times just as well as I go through the good times. Me being open minded just gives me the ability to make everything I want come true and this will give me the stregnth to get through life and be successful in all that I do.
I feel that me being the person I am and me going through my life and being faced with all the things in my day to day life is what's going to provide me with the things I need to be successful and strive in my life. I know that I will make it in life and be the best in my career and this is what will help me be the best their ever was in whatever career I choose.

Lab Assignmnet: Cover Letter Internet Research
A few websites I found about cover letters are: www.career.vt.edu/JobSearchGuide/CoverLetterSamples.html- This website tells you what your cover letter should consist of and all the different things you should incorporate into your cover letter. It shows you examples of different letters of applications and cover letter formats.
www.killianbranding.com/cover-letters-from-hell/ - This website sort of tells you what a cover letter is and why some people have terrible cover letters.
www.rogers-resume-help-center.com/sample-clerical-cover-letter.html - This website gives an example of a cover letter for a clerical job and it tells you why the writer incorporated what he did and the reason behind most of what he did with the cover letter.
All three of these websites were helpful in different ways such as one gave me an example of how I should write a specific type of cover letter and another showed me exactlt what I should and should not have in my cover letter. By reading these websites I was able to start my own cover letter the proper way given the fact that I have never written a cover letter before. These websites were extremely helpful. I was pleased in the information I recieved from these websites because I thought that I wasn't going to get any real helpful information out of these sites but to my surprise I did. One opinion I would offer is to just be yourself and if you do that you should have one of the best cover letters the employer has ever read.

Portable Skills and Resume Writing
Two websites I found about listing skills on your resume are: www.dummies.com/.../listing-education-experience-and-skills-on-yo...
career-advice.monster.com › Job Hunt Strategy › Career Assessment
These two links basicly describe the different things you can put on your resume when it comes down to the different skills and education. They give specific examples of the different aspect you should and shouldn't encorporate into your resume. The first one tells you how you should describe yourself using different things such as humorious, reliable and even previous job titles and things. The second link describes how one should assess the different skills they might possess and it shows you how to stand out and make yourself seem more qualified and better then anyone else applying for that job.
My portable skills consist of things like: Reliable, dependable, humorious, funny, outgoing, hardworking, communication skills, computer skills, people skills and many more. When I interned at the Department of Probation a while ago I demonstrated excellent computer and communication skills because I had to answer phones and deal with many different people ranging from ages 7 years old and up every day either face to face or over the phone. I would like to work on my patience because I have very short patience when it comes down to certain things and or people. I would also like to improve on my computer skills because I am good and very knowledgeable when it comes down to computers but I would love to be able to type a little faster then what I do.
