First Blog about me!

My name is Shakeyia and I'm 18 years old and my major is Criminal Justice. I am on my last year here at LaGuardia and I must admit my time thus far has been quite swell.I am transfering to John Jay college of Criminal Justice after this and I want to have my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice by the time I reach the age of 21 in two more years. I expect to learn a lot in this course and hopefully start my internship by next semester. Honestly, if I didn't have to take this course I wouldn't be in this class blogging at this very moment.

I'm a very loving and outgoing person and I love to interact with people. I am very assertive and head strong. I'm social and confident and I like to refur to myself as a social butterfly lol. With this being said I do have somewhat of a snobbish personality when it comes to certain things I don't agree on. Other then this I'm a great personality with excellent verbal communication skills. I love to learn new things and I'm always looking for a challenge and I feel that the Criminal Justice system will give me an everlasting challenge that I will conquer everyday.

The reason I want to join the criminal justice field is because I love authority and I feel that I have a lot to offer the people that enter this field whether through the job field or the criminal field. I'm going to be a Federal Parole Office and I feel that I will be the best Parole Officer the Federal Gov't has ever seen. The reason I choose this career is because I feel that I have a lot to offer these ex-cons given the fact that I have one on one experience with individuals coming in and out of the State and Federal prison system. I want to help these people because I feel that the Criminal Justice system is just one big revolving door and all I see is individuals coming in and out of it and I want to STOP that revolving door. I want to help people better themselves and stay on the outside of the prison system because growing up I have seen too many individuals lost to the streets or the criminal justice system because of parole officers who care more about their paycheck then helping the people at hand. I feel that I have a lot to offer these people given the fact that I know where they came from and I know and understand the challenges they've faced thus far.

  1. Hi Shakeyia,
I am impressed with the passion you are bringing to your major. Hopefully, "the system" will not burn that passion out. I hope you find this course useful and you get a chance to catch up on your posts.
